The Carter Jonas Land Aid “My Personal Pedalthon 2020” is a unique event designed to demonstrate how active our Carter Jonas cycling community is and enjoy a little fun at the same time. The event replaces our 2020 Pedalthon now postponed until next year due to Covid 19 with your own challenge. To take part, register your own personal rides over the course of a month.
As rides are completed and recorded a global "heat map" will grow showing where our community is riding.
Here's how to sign up.
Set up a free Map my Tracks account at www.mapmytracks.com. Remember to set up your profile as public. Although not essential, you can synchronise your garmin, wahoo, fibit etc to the Map my Tracks platform. Download the Map my Tracks app to your phone. (For those who don't use smart devices this gives you the option for recording your ride). Ensure you set the default activity to cycling.
On the map my Tracks website, sign up to attend the event. "The Carter Jonas Land aid Pedalthon 2020"
Go riding and record your ride.
There are 3 ways to record your ride:
Using the Map my Tracks App, press the + sign at the bottom of your screen, then the green "GO" button. At the end of your ride press the red "STOP" button. You will be asked to synchronise the activity and make public. Ensure the default setting is for cycling.
If your existing smart device is synchronised to Map my Tracks simply use as normal and your route will upload to the map my Tracks heat map. If you are synchronising from a Garmin or Wahoo check that in the privacy settings the device is set up for cycling and public or anyone view not private.
If all else fails, download the file from your smart device and upload manually on the map my Tracks website.
Whilst out riding you can take photos via the Map my Tracks App and these will automatically show on the Pedalthon event web page.
The heat map is visible on the Map my Tracks "Carter Jonas Land Aid Personal Pedalthon 2020" web page
Additionally, you may want to download the iconic Events App where all the Pedalthon events can be viewed. The heatmap is also available here, click on the event and then on the icon under ROUTES, the next screen press the HEATMAP Button. It takes a little time to load, be patient.
