Map My Tracks will be at the event across the weekend. Stop by our team garage along the pit lane and we’ll help get you started.
Along with every activity you can now upload any number of photos to help tell the full story. Photos are great way to vividly share your view down the valley, the foul weather that you experienced, or the buddies that you were out with.
Photos appear alongside activities and can be viewed in full screen mode. As you might expect they also appear on your activity map when the photo has location data. There is no limit on the amount of photos you can add to an activity. Captions can also help to tell your followers even more, and if you mention other Map My Tracks users in your captions they’ll get notified.
You can get started today by uploading photos to individual activities. It’s super simple to upload photos in bulk on any activity but it’s also just as easy to upload images by email using your Map My Tracks dropbox email address. When you email in photos as attachments they will be scanned for a time stamp and assigned to the correct activity. It’s a great way to get started and back fill your activities with photos taken in the past.
There’s more on how to get started with uploading photos in the support centre. You can check out this activity to see photos in action.
We can’t wait to see where you venture outdoors.
The all new Map My Tracks Endurance app for Android, now available to download from Google Play, has been reimagined, rebuilt and relaunched. It’s the perfect companion for any athlete tackling a long distance event that wants to share their progress live so friends and family can follow them.
Map My Tracks Endurance is been specifically designed to conserve the phone’s battery and provide live GPS tracking for well over 24 hours on a single charge. When used, it streams live GPS data back to Map My Tracks where friends and family can follow the progress. It’s designed as a location tracker rather than a performance tracker. That means that there are no bells and whistles - it trackers your location only. If you’re interested in performance tracking then the Map My Tracks OutFront provides fully data streaming of location, heart rate, speed, cadence, power, etc. However, Map My Tracks OutFront won’t stream live for 24 hours!
For now, Endurance is only available on Android but the iOS version is on its way.
Download it from Google Play and have fun using it at your next event.
Now, you can tag other people that were out with you. So if you were out on a group ride, you can tag other riders. If you did a parkrun on the weekend then you can tag other runners that were out with you. It a great way to share and discover new activities.
People can be tagged when you upload a file to Map My Tracks or when you upload direct from a Garmin device. For now, people can be only be tagged on the website. The mobile apps will be updated with this feature in a short while.
It’s also possible to tag people after an activity has been uploaded. If you use the Map My Tracks app first sync the activity online first then use the website to tag the people you want.
All activities have the option to tag people. You can tag yourself to someone else’s activity or tag your own activity with other people. The choice is yours.
We’re really excited to see how this feature develops. As ever, we are keen to get your feedback on this, or any other feature. Let us know what you think.
Now, along with all the social buzz from Twitter and Instagram, the event activity feed also shows off event related activities posted on Map My Tracks by participants.
Just like tweets and Instagram posts it’s super simple to include activities posted on Map My Tracks. Simply tag any activity on Map My Tracks with the event’s official hashtag. It’s that simple. Activity tags, notes or comments featuring the event’s tag will be presented in the feed.
All events have now been updated to take advantage of this new feature. To start seeing activities in amongst the other social buzz first make sure the event has a hashtag set up. Then start spreading the word to participants, and followers, by posting a news update in the event planner.
This is a small, but powerful, addition to the events on Map My Tracks. We hope you like it.
We have completely reworked the file upload process to make sure that segment scanning no longer slows down the import process. Before the recent improvements the option to scan for segments made the import slow and the experience poor. Sorry about that.
Under the new file upload method the segment scanning has been decoupled from the import to let you move on quickly and view the activity details. Segment scanning will still take place in the background and any segments covered will appear on your activity with a short space of time.
This change affects the uploading of individual files and activities imported directly from Garmin devices.
As part of the improvements we have made is much easier to start giving your activities a title. Simple update the title on the activity preview page to set one.
Hope you enjoy using the new improvements.
The Revolve24 event app will take advantage of Map My Tracks’ event platform that provides event organisers with both mobile and web apps designed to foster participant and fan engagement before, during and after the event.
Revolve24 is a closed circuit 24-hour global relay race series. The first, UK event in September 2015 will be held at Brands Hatch on what is a testing 3.9 kilometre track.
The competition starts well before the race! By using many of the familiar Map My Tracks app features, as well as some new features exclusive to Revolve24, soloists and teams will be able to link their GPS performance data and challenge for pole position, as well as the bragging rights of pit garage 1. Based on the miles covered, the feet climbed and average speed achieved during training, the Revolve24 event app will calculate the teams or soloists position on the grid.
The Revolve24 app, powered by Map My Tracks, will provide a great event experience for the rider, team managers and spectators providing real-time category positions during the 24-hour race. Map My Tracks will be used to crunch the numbers across the KOM segment, Sprint, Fastest Lap and most laps completed. The app will also provide event information, training tips and exclusive offers from event partners.
The Map My Tracks widget is basically a remote control option to start, pause and stop tracking without the need to launch the app itself. It’s a one touch operation which makes it significantly easier to track every workout and activity session you do.
The widget works best if you have set the app with some default options like the main activity type or the tracking status.
To install the Map My Tracks widget make sure you have downloaded version 2.3 from Google Play.
As ever, we hope you like the update.
The Map My Tracks Timeline delves into your past history on Map My Tracks and includes every single activity that you have ever uploaded. It gives you an at-a-glance view for your achievements across each day, week, month or year and makes it easy to access any activity to drill down into the detail.
The Timeline includes both public and private activities across any sport type that you have carried out. You can access the new Timeline section from the main menu or from within the Training Room or Calendar sections.
It was our intention to make the Map My Tracks Timeline a PLUS only feature but we like it so much we want everyone to be able to use it. We hope you find it as useful as we do.
In this update we have unlocked all the pro app features to PLUS subscribers. This brings our Android app inline with the recent iOS app update and makes sure that any PLUS subscribers gets all the pro features as part of their subscription.
Another important note to make is that the Android Pro app will no longer be updated and is now discontinued. If you have it installed it will continue to work just fine but it will not benefit from any further updates. From this point forward the free Map My Tracks app for Android will be the only app available to download and all new features will only be available in the free app.
We would encourage all our Pro app users to migrate over to using the free app from now on. We have made sure that all previous pro app users will continue to benefit from all the premium features within the free app without having to purchase an upgrade. As long as you have, at some time, uploaded at least one activity to the website from the Pro app the new free app will automatically unlock all the pro features. If you experience any issues please get in touch through the support channels.
Just like any Pro app user, this new version ensures that all PLUS subscribers benefit from all premium features within the free app as part of the PLUS subscription. This means that if you have subscribed to PLUS through the website you will now have all the premium app features unlocked as part of your subscription.
As well as these changes we have included a host of other enhancements and fixes throughout the app. If you like the update be sure to post a positive review on Google Play.
